Use of this exclusive beach area is available at a nominal charge and includes fresh towels and a refreshing beverage, allowing guests of all ages to enjoy the coast in comfort and ease.

THE BEATING HEART OF MYKONOS

Just a 25’ drive from Elia Beach, Mykonos Town – aka Hora (or Chora) – is one of the world’s hottest summer destinations. An impossible blend of unapologetically traditional and fabulously cosmopolitan, Hora is dotted with instantly recognisable attractions including the Mykonos windmills and Little Venice waterfront, while its meandering alleys and iconic sugarcube buildings are home to a variety of luxury boutiques, trendy bars, exciting restaurants, and wonderful art and culture experiences. This is also the hub of the island’s transport network with plenty of bus, taxi, and water taxi links to some of the best Mykonos beaches, beach clubs, and nightlife destinations.

Avaton offers guests a shuttle bus service to and from Mykonos Town at regular intervals throughout the day, providing a convenient and relaxed way to explore the island. Departures are arranged through the reception with brief advance notice, ensuring a smooth and well-organised journey. A nominal charge applies to transfers from the hotel to Mykonos Town, while return journeys back to Avaton are offered on a complimentary basis.

The island of Delos

A SACRED CENTRE OF THE ANCIENT WORLD

The mythical birthplace of the god Apollo, the tiny island of Delos, just southwest of Mykonos, was a major centre of worship, trade, and power in the ancient world for almost a thousand years. Today Delos is home to an exquisite UNESCO World Heritage Site – one of the foremost archaeological sites in the Mediterranean, sometimes compared to those at Delphi and Olympia.
 
Without a doubt, Delos is a must do Mykonos experience. Get there in about 30’ by ferry – or elevate the visit into a bespoke day trip with a luxury yacht charter from Mykonos.

Mykonos is a popular year-round destination with short, mild winters and long, sunny summers. Temperatures average above 20°C from May through September, and the weather is warm, bright and dry, with seasonal northern winds known as meltemia ensuring that summer days are relatively cool even during the hottest months of July and August, when average daily highs reach 27°C and temperatures can occasionally climb above 30°C.

TRAVEL BY FERRY

During the summer months, several ferry services a day connect Mykonos to mainland Greece and other Aegean islands. Services to the mainland run between Mykonos and the major ports of Piraeus and Rafina near Athens and Thessaloniki in northern Greece. Meanwhile, multiple daily crossings connect Mykonos with the rest of the Cyclades (including Santorini, Andros, and Paros), the Dodecanese (including Rhodes)– and other popular Greek islands including Samos and Crete.

Travel by Air

Regular flights operate between Mykonos Airport and Greece’s two key international airports in Athens (approx. 45’) and Thessaloniki (approx. 75’), providing year-round connections to the mainland. During the summer months, additional seasonal services further connect Mykonos to other Greek airports as well as to key hubs throughout Europe – including London (Gatwick, Heathrow, and Luton), Barcelona, Frankfurt, Milan, Munich, Rome, and Zurich – with a range of direct, connecting, and charter flights.
